The Beach
The Beach
Costa del Sol is one of the longest, widest and most beautiful beaches in the country.
One of the first things that comes to mind is how empty it is – especially during the week – as most of this area is dotted with exclusive private homes.
The beach is perfect for long romantic walks, beach combing, picnics, fishing, playing soccer or frisbee, building sand castles or bonfires, or just relaxing on a hammock and taking in some of the most spectacular sunsets you’ve ever seen in your life.
It’s also considered one of the best surfing beach breaks in El Salvador. We grew up surfing and fishing in these waters and know them very well. The surf works best in the summer months, between November and April (dry season), usually on an incoming or outgoing high tide. The swell drops significantly during this time, but the offshore winds kick in and more than make up for the smaller size surf with endless days of perfect barrels. Our winter months are from May through October (wet season). Although Costa del Sol is a good beginner break year round, it tends to close out with bigger winter swells, making it more suitable for intermediate to advanced surfers during this time.
Surf spots in La Libertad such as La Punta, Conchalio, El Sunzal, La Bocana El Zonte and KM59 are only an hour away from us. We usually do day trips depending on what our guests want to do. Some like to paddle out for a little sunset session before going out at night in El Tunco. Others want to be out in the lineup by 6:00am and spend the day at the beach. No problem, we do that too!
